Margaret Lee Short Evans 1923-2006 Published March 30, 2006 Margaret Lee Evans, 82, of Bandera died Friday, March 24, at her residence. She was born on April 12, 1923 in Kerrville to Joseph William Short Jr. and Lenna Mary Stevens. Margaret grew up in the Peachtree community where she attended school for two years, then Bandera for nine years. She attended Hockaday Junior College and then Trinity University. On April 26, 1946, she married James Otis Evans in Bexar County. Margaret was a Past President of the Bandera PTA and the Heritage Genealogy Society; Past Matron of Bandera Chapter #643 Order of Eastern Star; member of DAR and CD of the 17th Century; Director of First State Bank of Bandera; and she was an active member of Bandera United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ann Fallis and husband Sam of Georgetown, son, James O. Evans, Jr and wife Jo Anne of Bandera, five grandchildren, Jason Joseph Evans and wife Karen, Tommy Jon Lackey, Cody Reese Lackey and wife Jamie, Nathan Emory Swift and wife Katie, and Shayla Bree Swift. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and her husband. Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Bandera United Methodist Church, with Rev. Everett Boyce officiating. Interment to follow in Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gene Moretich, Jake Short, Joe Brad Short, Tim Tobin, Phil Tobin, and Sully Woodland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Bandera United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 128, Bandera, TX 78003. |
